I'm going to try growing quinoa for the first time this year. Any tips?

i like it. i have a chilean white variety that is short and short seasoned. i spread the seeds, covered the earth with mulch, and walked away. when the seed heads started to fade i brought them inside to finish drying. they were beautiful.

Phil,
I assume that you are saving seed. If that is the case, do you have problems with Lamb's Quarter crossing?

i havent had that issue because lambs quarters does not grow anywhere near my quinoa. i dont till and it likes tilled soils to live in. do you know much about that happening? is it common?

Thanks all. I'm actually intrigued about crossing with wild relatives. It might make them easier to grow if crossed with the 'locals'. But hopefully it won't be too hard to grow in the first place.
