she is saving seed from Kamatis Na Ligaw. a small red current type. this vine is a monster and set right past the heat. one plant will yield bowls of fruit in a season.

those small suckers are meticulous work, trying to get out each tiny seed. i end up massaging each one individually in a shallow bowl of water. the water helps the seeds loosen easily. i'll do it listening to a radio program or a movie, its easier when you have something else to think about. i've noticed that after processing a bowl of tomatoes my cuticles have been eaten away...tomato manicure....i bet dee has no urge to purchase cuticle removers.

i squeeze the seeds out like a citrus into a cup of water since getting the seeds out will totally damage the fruit.

with cherries and currants i fill a bowl with water and individually open each one by hand, removing the seeds into the water, then compost the little fleshes. with larger types i will remove the seed sections by hand leaving just the meat in tact, which i then freeze and use later on for soups and sauces. i choose to not use knives often to reduce seed damage.
