i made a simple box 3/4" plywood using incu-kit dc to incubate in.
simple dow rod to rock/roll eggs to and fro.
we need ideas for the hatcher and Brooder/nursery phase of this new venture.
made a trip to town today did a price check lumber the build a 20x20 fly pen area
sub-divided into 8 pens 5' x 8' 6" x 8' tall each. central walk path 3'x20'
lumber cost alone was about +or- a little
12' treated 5/4 x 6" decking boards -------------------$75.00
12' treaded 2x4 netting support beams --------------$19.42
8' treated 5/4 x 6" x 8' -----------------------------------$65.00
i spoke to the lumber yard man he said they had most
all of this in a batch to be cut up today
for cull lumber as some was a little bent and checked
some on the ends.
i asked well how much for all of it he did the math and said
will you pay $15.00 for all of this?
well i took his deal and praised the lord amen.
i had to modify my plans.
the cull lumber was well suited for a 12'x24'
area so thats what i did at the price i could get the lumber
basic frame made with less then $30.00 in lumber
$15.00 was the posts i used landscaping timbers they are cheep
the 12' x 24' frame with wire 2"x4" 100' roll
used about $60.00 worth of the roll
plus chicken wire as the chicks are still small
used about $30.00 or the roll
my wife Dee working
me working
chicken pen from the 24' end view.
a few of my wife's baby chicks 41 days old now june the 1st.
not bad for 5.5 hrs of work.man i sure get more done
now that i am no longer a drunk LOL.
AND THE KICKER IS I STILL HAVE 50 FEET of sliding glass doors double pane to use. these chickens will be the poop for next years garden gotta love meat and eggs that are donors to the cause
praise the LORD for special wood deals like this!!! AMEN
