artichokes should be called sunroot flower, instead of sunroot being called an artichoke. im pretty sure sunroot is older too. (just trying to make a point)
i just planted a couple varieties in my backyard although i did not take photos. i can when they grow up.
got a red skinned and a tan skinned one planted. the red is smaller and the tan is more mild. the tan one had seedlings around it when i took it so it may be fertile. i hope so!

just planted my first patch last spring, I didn't harvest any because I wanted it to establish. The plants were 12 feet tall though. When is the best time to harvest some - I've never grown them before?

you can harvest them anytime you can get to them.
