this year the worst variety of all was Pink berkley tie dye. it got LB (late blight) in late may, and out of 5 plants this was the only fruit to be born before death at the beginning of august. in addition to no disease resistance, the root structure also leaves alot to be desired. i dont think that i will be using this variety in the future. regardless i do have to say that other breeding work of brad gates' that i have tried like evan's purple pear and boars hoof happen to be very drought tolerant and disease tolerant plants. maybe its just my climate but i can say i will not be trying PBTD again.
